New Battlestar Galactica Movie

I've recently come across news that says that Universal have secured the rights to make a theatrical movie with Bryan Singer to direct it. Now, as far as I know it has nothing to do with Ron Moore's version, and it rumoured to either be a continuation of the original, or yet another reimagining.

Has anyone else heard about this? Thoughts?

I really like it, it is very well done and also very funny as it pokes fun at other SF TV shows.

Warning it is 161 pages long and not finished yet.

Blakes 7 Remastered

Found something interesting on YouTube. It appears someone has gone through the first series of Blakes 7 and remastered all the ships with CGI. Looks pretty good to me.

Does the Federation use SS Ranks in Blakes Seven

Just been reading Edmund Blandford's book on the Waffen SS and in the Appendix he gives the literal translation of the SS ranks, which include

Squad Leader

Section Leader

which have a very definite Blakes Seven echo for me...

The Big Swirly Banana

It struck me walking down the hill in the sunshine that the big swirly banana was actually quite impressive in retrospect, far more so than the tired and early computer graphics that replaced it in later series.

Two Blakes

Just watching the Blakes 7 episode 'Weapon' and it struck me that when in 'Terminus' Servalan says she saw Blake's body somewhere she does not need to have been lying. There is ANOTHER Blake about. So, when in Blake, the final episode, the crew of Scorpio are trying to work out why Servalan would lie, the answer is she didn't, but they never saw the Blake clone so they didn't know it existed.

I'm just wondering what everyone's favourite science fiction is. It can be anything from books, movies, radio, TV, theatre etc. Share your thoughts here.

For me I would go with the following:

TV

Blakes' 7 (mainly because the so called 'good' guys' are pretty amoral, and don't always win...also the story-lines were often very good)

Doctor Who (intriguing story-lines, a fascinating character and show that just keeps reinventing itself for each new...
